CONSTRUCTION UPDATE

Pressing Forward

PRESSING FORWARD IN THE TIME OF CORONAVIRUS

Originally this month’s project update was going to celebrate a major milestone for us: unanimous approval on March 10th from the City of Healdsburg’s Planning Commission on the design of our first phase of residences. But the COVID-19 pandemic has swept across the world and our focus has shifted. Right now, we’re in the process of making sure all our people stay well, and like many others, have transitioned our team to remote work so they can keep the project rolling.

In the meantime, we are doing our part to support our Healdsburg community. We were happy to hear that Corazon Healdsburg has reopened its Unity and Community Fund to help those who can’t access unemployment benefits, laid off hospitality workers and local families in need, and we are excited to champion partners who are going above and beyond to deliver a sense of normalcy to the region.

In particular, we salute Dustin Valette, chef and owner at Valette Restaurant, for preparing nightly take-out meals and curbside service so community members don’t even have to get out of their cars. We hail similar efforts from our friends at SingleThread, Barndiva, KINSmoke, PizZando, and so many others. Click here for the complete list of restaurants in Healdsburg providing take-out. We also appreciate Shelton’s Natural Foods Market, which launched grocery delivery service for local seniors who can’t leave their homes.

And we would be remiss if we didn’t say thank you to all of the healthcare workers, government employees, daycare facilities, hardware stores, farms and grocery stores, and essential service companies who are doing their part to ensure our well-being during this time. We are so proud to be a part of such a compassionate community.

Which brings us back to the beginning. We mentioned we received unanimous approval from the Planning Commission. Here’s what Jim Hall, our Director of Design and Construction has to say, “It is always a great feeling to receive unanimous approval from the Planning Commission, and even more so for the first major design review submission of a multi-phased development. This was our opportunity to present the design expectations to the public and the overall positive feedback is welcomed after a long entitlement process.”
