Here we are more than half way through our two month stay in Healdsburg, but it feels like we just arrived last week. Time is flying! We’ve certainly packed a lot into that time; here’s a quick smattering of what’s been packed in.
The Coffee with the Kings rides have become a staple to kickstart the week with a friendly morning spin followed by coffee, donuts, and friendly chatter. Given my history in road racing, it’s been a pleasure to introduce the Toasters Ride to town. This is a speedy 50 mile leg burner that’ll certainly test one’s fitness, complete with convenient shortcuts if you’re not totally feeling your oats. Another project we’ve been working on and are excited to debut this spring is the Chef’s Series which brings in talented local chefs who not only draw inspiration from the kitchen, but on the bike too. These look like a morning ride followed by an “ride country” inspired meal. Among other adventures, the whole King family embraced a Friday evening Healdsburg critical mass ride. Loads of kids, parents, families, and a good time was had as we showed the power of bikes in our quaint little community!
Sea Otter isn’t quite Mecca, but it has a gravitational force that draws in cyclists and the cycling industry like nothing else that I’ve experienced. California in the spring has that effect! The whole King family will be there, so amid the throngs, please come say hi.
As competition is kicking into high gear, the legendary Grasshoppers are full speed ahead too. Their Six Sigma event is another one coming right up where we’re looking forward to testing our spring form. Grasshoppers have always been a terrific way to explore a new area in a competitive, but still very welcoming arena. This course promises to showcase something new for nearly everyone. If you’re in for that event, come say hello there as well!
And of course we’d be excited to see you at any of the remaining spring events at Mill District Velo.
Happy riding and see you on the road. Or at the bakery,
Ted
