Hello Mill District friends,
Thank you so much for a wonderful spring. From the Chef Cycling Series, to Coffee with the Kings rides, Grasshopper Adventure Series collabs and the Toaster’s Rides, we were so happy to host something for everyone.
Since we’ve been hosting group rides for five years now, we’ve observed that we have folks from all different cycling backgrounds joining us. Especially post pandemic, group rides were new for so many of you and some of you expressed that it could be a little intimidating.
We know it can seem intimidating to some, but the power of a group ride is that it is a great equalizer for different skill levels. A smooth, well run group ride can ensure that everyone gets what they’re looking for, but with the assurance of smooth and safe riding too. So, with that, we decided to put together a little video to start the conversation if you have questions around group riding or to inform what a typical group ride should or should not include. If you join a Mill District Velo ride, we’ll do a quick meet and greet at the start and have time for questions or instruction.
Most of the Mill District rides are aimed towards social riding, getting to see the beautiful sights of Sonoma County and meeting some new and fun people along the way. If you have a competitive itch, then the Toaster’s Ride (an advanced “drop” ride) might be the eventual goal ride for you.
We hope you enjoy this fun little video about the “Do’s and Don’ts” of the Group ride.
With that, we look forward to a few pop up rides in 2023 and a spring calendar for 2024.
